The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching both introductory and upper level Computer Science courses — inspiring younger students to develop the foundational skills needed to use technology effectively as a learner at St. Joe's, while challenging our older students to develop more advanced skills and principles in preparation for continued application in college and in their careers. Possible courses for instruction include Introduction to Coding, Web Design, AP Computer Science Principles, and AP Computer Science A. Candidate Profile: Content expertise is expected, as is the desire and ability to teach students from diverse backgrounds on an individual level. Effective communications skills, a willingness to actively engage our students in their learning, and an eagerness to contribute as a life-long learner as part of a professional learning community are required. A Bachelor's degree in computer science, education or a related field is required. NYS education certification with a completed (or in-progress) master's degree is preferable. Role and Responsibilities: The candidate will be expected to participate fully in all obligations of a high school teacher, incorporating modern and ever-changing educational technology to suit students' learning. The full-time Computer Science Teacher reports to the Principal and will work collaboratively with students, faculty, and administrators.
