Middle School Science Teacher FLSA: Exempt Position Status: Full-Time Reports to: Principal Summary Description Nardin Academy is an Independent Catholic School located in Buffalo, NY. Nardin Academy is seeking a Middle School Science teacher to organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. A Nardin Academy teacher is dedicated to the mission of the Academy, committed to the study of pedagogy, motivated to work collaboratively, and committed to a self-reflective practice and professional development. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Plans for the developmental needs of the children on an individual and group level in the areas of academic, emotional, social and psychomotor growth • Establishes and maintains cooperative and effective working relationships with others • Communicates effectively orally and in writing • Demonstrates strong content knowledge as well as the ability to employ various instructional practices • Demonstrates a knowledge of assessments and the ability to use data for planning and instruction • Executes curriculum in an appropriate manner, including the use of technology to enhance student learning Duties and Responsibilities • Prepares an environment to facilitate the learning needs of all children • Demonstrates planning and preparation for instruction • Maintains professional credentials as appropriate • Engages in self-reflection and annual development of a growth and renewal plan based on the Characteristics of Professional Excellence • Develops and implements individual and group lessons • Monitors student progress • Maintains and updates academic records • Develops and implements weekly, monthly, and annual curricular goals Preferred qualifications • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Elementary Education or related field from an accredited institution • NY State or comparable certification in teaching • Previous teaching experience in a professional setting preferred EEO
