First Grade Teacher FLSA: Exempt Position Status: Full-Time Reports to: Lower School Principal Summary Description Nardin Academy is an Independent Catholic School located in Buffalo, NY. Nardin Academy is seeking a 1st Grade Teacher to organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Nardin Academy teacher is dedicated to the mission of the Academy, committed to the study of pedagogy, motivated to work collaboratively, and committed to a self-reflective practice and professional development. This teacher is self-motivated, self-directed, and able to manage time effectively while fulfilling curricular expectations. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities ● Plans for the developmental needs of the children on an individual and group level in the areas of academic and SEL ● Establishes and maintains cooperative and effective working relationships with others ● Communicates effectively orally and in writing with colleagues and parents ● Demonstrates strong content knowledge as well as the ability to employ various instructional practices ● Demonstrates a knowledge of assessments and the ability to use data for planning and instruction ● Executes curriculum in an appropriate manner, including the use of technology to enhance student learning ● Demonstrate a working knowledge of Google Suite, Learning Management System (LMS), PowerSchool ● Performs all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program Duties and Responsibilities ● Supports and acts in accordance with the Academy's mission ● Prepares an environment to facilitate the learning needs of all children ● Demonstrates planning and preparation for instruction ● Maintains professional credentials as appropriate ● Engages in self-reflection and annual development of a growth and renewal plan based on the Characteristics of Professional Excellence ● Develops and implements individual and group lessons ● Monitors student progress ● Maintains and updates academic records ● Develops and implements weekly, monthly, and annual curricular goals ● Communicates regularly with parents Preferred qualifications ● Bachelor's/Master's degree in Elementary Education or related field from an accredited institution ● NY State or comparable certification in teaching ● Previous teaching experience in a professional setting preferred EEO To apply, please submit the following materials as a PDF to careers@nardin.org.
