Position: Executive Director

Start Date: On or about July 1, 2017

General Description:

The Executive Director is the key management leader of the Education Collaborative of Western New York.

The Education Collaborative of Western New York is a unique consortium of fifteen private high schools in Erie and Niagara Counties of Western New York. Its mission is to better prepare students for the future, provide its unique member schools with opportunities for collaboration, and provide a forum for sharing ideas and a structure for advocating the values of private education. Member schools offer quality education to area students and provide excellent choices to families seeking an independent school experience.

Consortium member schools participate in the John R. Oishei Foundation Scholarship Program, which provides nearly-full, four-year scholarship awards to incoming minority freshman at each of the sixteen Education Collaborative of Western New York schools. Education Collaborative of Western New York schools also share access to virtual library resources, including ESBCO's Science Reference Center and Gale's Student Resource Center. Other shared resources include Infobase's Bloom's Literature and a variety of Gale e-books. Education Collaborative of Western New York schools are dedicated to the growth of each student and believe that strong schools in Western New York communities strengthen the entire region.

The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include financial oversight, grant writing, and community outreach. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Qualifications:

●      A master's degree, preferably in education

●      Minimum 5 years successful experience in teaching, administration, and supervision preferably in an independent or private school setting

●      Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting

●      Experience with institutional fundraising and grant writing

●      Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation

●      Ability to craft and convey a vision of EdCo's strategic future

●      Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and heads of schools

●      Ability to speak and write clearly and effectively to a variety of audiences

●      Ability to interface and engage diverse schools and affinity groups

●      Ability to execute leadership in maintaining a positive work environment

●      Ability to travel to all EdCo schools in the Western New York area

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

●      Lead EdCo in a manner that supports and guides the organization's mission as defined by the Board of Directors.

●      Communicate effectively with the Board and provide, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.

●      Responsible for the fiscal integrity of Education Collaborative of WNY, to include submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and quarterly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.

●      Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.

●      Responsible for grant writing and the collection of member school dues which are necessary to support EdCo's mission.

●      Responsible for implementation of EdCo's programs that carry out the organization's mission.

●      Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that EdCo can successfully fulfill its mission into the future.

●      Responsible for the enhancement of EdCo's image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations.

●      Responsible for the effective administration of EdCo's operations.

●      Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent and qualified staff.

●      Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization.
